Baby Care Training

Thanks so much to renowned doula Manon, who came to the orphanage to help train and give assistance to the baby ward. Manon also trained the school aged children to be baby helpers and taught them how to hold, feed, diaper and care for the babies so that all can be involved when the new babies arrive!

We now have 35 children (including many infants) at the orphanage and they are thriving as they run in the grass, pick fruit on the trees, play soccer and eat together in the dining hall. They are adapting well and enjoying going to the local Jesus Maria school where they are making friends and learning and growing just as they should be. We are working hard to provide additional funds to the orphanage as we are hiring additional warm adults to take care and work with the children. The children make you smile with their fun and laughter. They love to give hugs and ask questions about their visitors when people come to visit. They are warm and welcoming and beautifully curious. Thank you for all of your support. Please donate if you can to Elevado Foundation as the funds go directly towards the food, care and staffing for the children. Any little bit helps! Thank you!

A basketball court has just been put in and the fruit trees are beginning to bear fruit. The children are coming in small groups and we currently have 20 children. The beds and facility are ready for more. Thank you to all for your continued support. The laughter and smiles throughout the orphanage warm the heart. These children are remarkable.

Orphanage Construction Completed!

We are thrilled to announce that the construction on the orphanage has been completed.  Congratulations and thank you to all for the beautiful work on making this vision a reality.   We can already imagine the laughter of children amongst the pretty landscaping and buildings.

Now the real work begins ;)  The children will begin to arrive soon in groups of about 5 at a time to acclimatize until we have filled the bedrooms - with 140 kids!  Please help us get ready by donating any (like new please) clothes, books, sports equipment, etc.   And obviously any funds help as we are staffing up with everyone to run the day to day - cooks, nurse, psychologists, teachers, newborn caretakers, maintenance, administrator, etc.

These children, whom many of have seen the worst of humanity, will now see the best of humanity.  Thank you all for continuing to help us make that happen and allow these children to finally have dreams.

Gracias!

Self-Esteem Building Details Coming to Life

As we strive to ensure the children develop self-worth and self-confidence, the details matter.  One area where we love the thought process behind, is that each child has their own space to store items that are theirs.  Research shows that having some personal space that is unique to a child creates a powerful message of self and self-worth.  Each child at the orphanage has their own double closet to keep their own clothes and their own "stuff" in.  The closets have just been finished and look amazing!
